A large turnout is expected by the Weyburn Car Club for the seventh annual Cruise Night, which will take place downtown on Saturday, June 21. "Last year I think everyone had a great time - families, adults and kids - there is something for everyone," said chairperson Harvey Oudot. The show will feature everything from antique cars and trucks, muscle cars and motorcycles. In the past, the event has been held on a Friday evening. This year, organizers moved it to Saturday in the hopes of attracting a larger crowd. Typically, around 1,500 people turn out for Cruise Night. Second and Third Streets and Souris Avenue will be blocked off starting at noon to allow the vehicles in. The car show will then be opened to the public from 2 to 8 p.m. Registration will take place on Second Street starting at 1 p.m. There is a $5 registration fee to enter a vehicle into the show, however, each entry will receive a gift bag. Awards for the entries will be handed out at 7 p.m. and door prizes will be drawn. "One of the (door) prizes is a GPS system, so we have some fairly good prizes," said Oudot. In past years, there have been between 200-240 vehicles that registered for Cruise Night. Downtown there will be five to six food vendors for the visits that are put on by local service clubs. Extra proceeds from the car show will also be donated to local charities. Throughout the event there will also be music supplied by Sundown D.J. and Karaoke. Kevin Lackey will be on hand with his sound system to emcee the event.
