Three city men charged with theft over $5,000

The Weyburn Police Service laid charges against three Weyburn men for an incident that occurred earlier this year in the city.

The men, aged 29, 30 and 48, are charged with theft over $5,000, and possession of stolen property. They will be making court appearances in July.

A 16-year-old youth was charged with mischief and joy riding. Police say the youth was in a home and damaged a number of articles in the home, then took a motor vehicle without the permission of the owner. The youth will appear in court in July.

Police are investigating a complaint from an 18-year-old Weyburn woman who reported that she was sexually assaulted on Friday. The investigation is continuing.

Also on Friday, a vehicle parked in the 500 block of Dieppe Drive was vandalized. Police say this is an ongoing problem in Weyburn, and anyone with information on any of these offences is asked to contact the police, or call the toll-free Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers tips line at 1-800-222-8477.

Meanwhile, the Milestone RCMP are asking for the public's assistance in solving an incident of mischief. Sometime between June 6 at 9 a.m. and June 8 and 9:30 a.m., an unknown culprit(s) smashed windows and the glass out of a locked screen door to enter an abandoned farm house near Yellow Grass.

Once inside the house, graffiti was sprayed on the walls and spindles of the stairway and upper floor landing were smashed or kicked out.

In a separate incident at Lang, sometime between June 7 at 5:45 p.m., and June 9 at 8:45 a.m., an unknown person entered the Lang post office mailbox area.

Once inside, a beer bottle was smashed against the mailboxes, and a light bulb was shot out with what appears was a plastic pellet gun. Additional beer bottles were left behind at the scene.

If anyone has information on either of these incidents, call the RCMP or the Crime Stoppers tips line.
