Artists of all types in the Weyburn and surrounding region will have an opportunity to showcase their talents at this fall's wine festival. The Weyburn Arts Council will host a fine art silent auction at the Beta Sigma Phi wine festival to be held on Nov. 8, 2008. There will be a limit on the number of pieces which will be allowed to participate, so artists are asked to submit a photo of the piece they wish to submit, or a photo of a similar work, as well as an artist's biography, before the deadline of Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008. If the artwork is accepted to be part of the auction, the artist will receive 80 per cent of the auctioned price. The artist is able to put a reserve or starting bid on their item. The remaining 20 per cent of the proceeds will go as a commission to the Weyburn Arts Council to help fund programming costs. The purpose of the Weyburn Arts Council is to provide leadership in the education, promotion, presentation and preservation of the arts in the community. For more information on the art auction or how to enter, contact Marilyn Nelson of Weyburn. |
