Jehovah's Witnesses at convention

Several Jehovah's Witnesses from Weyburn and area were part of the crowd of 5,000 in attendance for the 2008 District Convention recently, with the theme, "Guided by God's Spirit."

The convention was held in the Credit Union Centre, and focussed on a number of topics of concern. A total of 85 delegates attended from the Weyburn area.

These included one aimed at young people, "Safeguard your relationship with Jehovah"; "Empowered by the Holy Spirit", which highlighted the role of the Holy Spirit in helping individuals resist temptation; and "Do not leave the love you had at first", a full-costume drama which depicted attitudes and situations that likely existed among Christians in the first century.

A convention organizer, Jack Danylchuk, said of the event, "The captivating aspect of the convention is the theme; showing people where they can receive successful direction in life helps us appreciate that God is personally interested in us and loves sincere people."

The convention was also highlighted by welcoming 27 new believers who were baptized in an ordination ceremony.
