The town of Midale invites residents to take a trip into the past for their annual Threshing Days this weekend, July 26 and 27. Saturday will kick off with a pancake breakfast from 7:30 to 10 a.m., after which Midale's museum will be open at its downtown location with over 100,000 articles on display. The main fair events start in the afternoon with the parade of antique tractors at 2 p.m., followed by a threshing demonstration, both on the fair grounds, said an organizer with the fair, John New. The Heritage Village will be open through the afternoon with a flea market and a blacksmith demonstration, plus an antique car show and beer gardens available to residents to check out. A tasty feature of the village is the sale of fried bread dough, along with other foods at the concession stand. At the high school there will be a display of country fair items and exhibits, organized by school librarian Lydia Duncan. Please contact her for information on entering the exhibition. On Sunday, there will be an ecumenical church service held at 11 a.m. at the old church on the fair grounds, and the same schedule for fair ground events (tractor parade, threshing bee, etc.) will take place in the afternoon. |
