Weyburn Synchro Stars athletes have been chosen for the Zone 1 Synchronized Swimming Team, which will compete in the 2008 Saskatchewan Summer Games, to be held in Lloydminster from August 3 to 6.

The team invite residents to attend their upcoming "Send-off to the Games" water show, in an effort to show off their accomplishments and for residents to cheer on the athletes. This event will be held Wednesday, July 30 at 7 p.m. at the Leisure Centre.

The Zone 1 team will be coached by retired Weyburn Synchro Star athlete, Lindsay Geisler. Geisler is a NCCP level two coach, currently on a summer break from the University of Saskatchewan. While in Saskatoon, she coaches with the Saskatoon Aqualenes. Assisting Geisler is team manager Jasmine Fraser. Fraser is also a NCCP level two coach and will be attending the University of Saskatchewan this fall.

Athletes on the team include Katelyn Fraser, Meagan Rothwell, Michaela Klassen, Crysta Geisler, Alexis Pederson, Katherine Ryan, Shaina Berling, Lauryn Ryan and Kimberly Rothwell. They will be traveling to Lloydminster on August 3 to attend the opening ceremonies of the 2008 Saskatchewan Summer Games.

Competition will begin Monday, Aug. 4, with preliminary duets and figures. Performing in duets will be Meagan Rothwell and Crysta Geisler, and Alexis Pederson and Katherine Ryan. On Tuesday, Aug. 5, the preliminary solos and team routines will occur, with the finals in duets. Performing in solos are Kimberly Rothwell and Alexis Pederson.

Then on Wednesday, Aug. 6, the finals for both solos and team routines will take place.
