Making deep fried bread dough

Margaret Hauglum, left, checks out the latest batch of fried bread dough being made by Karen Molstad and Marcelle Waite at right, a featured treat at Midale's Pioneer Echoes summer fair, held Saturday and Sunday in the heritage village and fair grounds. The annual event also featured a parade of antique tractors around the fair grounds, costume judging, as well as demonstrations in the village, such as blacksmithing and butter-churning.

Fire hall visitors get fire hats

Weyburn fire fighter Harold Whiteoak, left, hands out red plastic fire hats to a visiting group of children and volunteers with the Family Place's Sunny Scholars program on Wednesday at the fire hall. Standing from left to right from the back are Katimavik volunteer Karen Smart holding Lucas Payne, Katimavik volunteer Shannyn Szelk, Jared Oberkirsch, Dallas Barwick Christena-Myla Hepper, and Brandee Calder at right holding Teanna Jensen. Standing in front are Dakota Lonechild, Riley Payne and Hope Moore. The summer program provides the children with a wide variety of activities and tours to interesting places around the community through the summer.
