A number of thefts from vehicles reported to police

Police received a complaint about a group of individuals going through vehicles in the area of the Weyburn Comprehensive School on March 14. The people could not be found. Police are investigating this incident in relation to a number of thefts from vehicles in the city.

Among these incidents include: a 35-year-old male reported that someone had gone through his vehicle on March 14. A set of keys was stolen from the unlocked vehicle. A 35-year-old female reported that someone stole her boyfriends wallet out of his vehicle on March 14.

A 54-year-old female reported that someone had gone through her vehicle and stolen a Garmin GPS and a small quantity of change on March 14.

On March 14 police received a complaint from a 67-year-old male stating that a vehicle sped by him while he was walking his dog, the vehicle struck and killed the dog. It tore the leash out of his hand during the collision. Police located the suspect vehicle and charged a 20-year-old male for failing to report the accident.

Police responded to a domestic situation on March 15. A 23-year-old male was arrested and subsequently charged with assaulting a 16-year-old female. He was released on an undertaking with no contact conditions relating to the female and a promise to appear in court at a later date.

Police made a routine traffic stop on March 15, and discovered that the driver was suspended from driving.

The 23-year-old male was charged with disqualified driving and was driven to his residence by an officer.

Police responded to a hit and run accident on March 16. The suspect vehicle was located later that night and officers conducted an investigation. A 30-year-old female admitted to driving the vehicle. She was charged with driving without due care and attention and fail to notify owner of property damage.

Police found a 22-year-old male leaning against the Railway guard near the Railway tracks on March 16, who was extremely intoxicated. The male was arrested and transported to Weyburn Police Service cells and was later released when sober.

Police responded to a local bar regarding a fight on March 16. A 38-year-old female was the victim of an assault and was knocked to the ground by a 37-year-old male. She would not provide a statement regarding the assault and no charges were laid.

Earlier in the week, police received a complaint from a 19-year-old male on March 12. He was storing his motorcycle in a 31-year-old male's garage. The older male refused to return the bike stating that he wanted money and would not return the bike until he received it. Police spoke to both individuals and the motorcycle was returned without further incident.

On March 12 a 72-year-old female attended Weyburn Police Service after receiving disturbing texts. Police contacted the sender of the texts; the male apologized and stated that he'd sent texts to the wrong person.

He offered to apologize to the female. No charges were laid.

On March 12 a 19-year-old female reported that someone had entered her vehicle and stole: a 12 pack of Mike's Hard Lemonade, her purse, identification and approximately $15 cash. Police are investigating the theft.

On March 13 a 31-year-old male called Weyburn Police Service and reported that his 2008 F250 Crew cab was stolen. The male followed the tracks leading from where he'd parked and found a second truck. The second vehicle was stolen from Regina. A set of keys was recovered from a break-in, in the Radville area. The keys fit the ignition of the recovered stolen vehicle from Regina. The investigation into these incidents is ongoing.

Police received a complaint from a local Dance Studio on March 13. A quantity of cash and cheques were stolen from the studio. Police are investigating the theft.
