The Weyburn Comp Eagles had a successful football camp last week, held at Darold Kot Field. There were over 30 players in attendance at each of the practices, with a number of bantam-aged youth participating in the camp.
The Weyburn Comp Eagles had a successful football camp last week, held at Darold Kot Field. There were over 30 players in attendance at each of the practices, with a number of bantam-aged youth participating in the camp.
"It was really nice to see such a strong turn-out," said Darren Abel, head coach for the Eagles football team. "It was important for the coaches to have this opportunity to see all the prospects. We lost so many of our starters (due to graduation), so there are lots of jobs up for grabs this year."
It was also important that so many bantam-aged players had attended the camp. "This was really an opportunity for these youth to attend a camp, develop their skills and start getting prepared for the fall."
There were a number of bantam-level coaches who assisted during the Eagles football camp, allowing those coaches the opportunity to see their prospective players for the fall.
The Eagles football team will start their fall season on August 21 with another camp. Then they will have a controlled scrimmage in Balgonie on August 30.
