A hot air balloon piloted by Sharon Elliot travels eastward from Weyburn early in the morning on Thursday. From a distance, it looks like the balloon is hovering in the air, but from closer up it is easy to tell that the wind is actually pushing the balloon quite quickly. A hot air balloon's travel speed is determined by the strength of the wind that is pushing it, and the wind is also responsible for the direction that it travels. The pilot can only influence the altitude.
