Kick-off
Dr. Brass School kicked off National Aboriginal Day celebrations with a performance from the Dr. Brass Powwow Dancers. The group met after school throughout the year to practice three different types of dance. Dance instructor Margaret Brass told the students about the legend of the jingle dress (pictured far right in photo). The first jingle dress was made long ago by the father of a very sick daughter. He had a vision to make the dress to heal his daughter. When he awoke he created the dress according to his dream and sure enough, his daughter recovered. The jingle dress honours that tradition.
