River Park, Weyburn's city campground and picnic area along the banks of the Souris River, continues to be a popular and relaxing spot for both visitors and area residents alike.
The park, which is adjacent to Highway 39, can accommodate campers, RVs or tents and provides easy access to the city's downtown core which is only a few blocks away. Services available for travellers include free wireless internet, handicap-accessible washrooms and showers, picnic spots and a fully equipped playground for the kids.
River Park is also situated in the heart of the amazing Tatagwa Parkway, which features hiking trails that provide the opportunity for peaceful evening walks along the banks of the Souris River. People can enjoy a stroll up to Signal Hill, cross the river and visit the first PanCanadian pumpjack used in this area, or visit the Soo Line Historical Museum, which is across Highway 39 from the park.
Campers staying at River Park can find out why Weyburn is the Hospitality Capital of Saskatchewan when they visit the Chamber of Commerce Hospitality at River Park booth, which will be open from mid-June to early September and is staffed by local businesses and service groups. Free coffee, snacks and plenty of conversation and information are available to visitors who want to find out more about where they are or even if they simply want to talk about where they come from.
River Park offers campers a total of 28 powered sites and a smaller number of unserviced sites for tents. Rental rates are $24 per day for powered and $15 per day for tenting sites, and camp sites are available for a maximum stay of two weeks per visit.
River Park campground and facilities are open May 15 until October 15.
