To the Editor:
Could you please help me to find some of my relatives?
In 1983, descendants of Truls and Olia Pederson arranged a reunion in Weyburn, and about 180 people took part.
Truls and Olia emigrated in 1883 from a “husmannsplass” called Engedalsbraten in Adal, Norway. They had eight children.
Truls was the brother of my great-grandfather, Ole Pedersen Plassen. He and his wife Inger also lived in a small “husmannsplass” with eight children. One of the sons, Kristian Olsen and his wife oved after Truls and Olia in 1908. They had four children and had five more in Canada.
I do not know how life turned out for Truls and Olia and their family.
We are told that Kristian and Thora, after hard work, succeeded for many years on their farm, but then there came some years where grasshoppers ate the crop and they chose to move to Cranbrook, B.C.
We are some relatives who wonder how it was to live in Saskatchewan in the 1880-90s. Were there Indians there? Is Saskatchewan a prairie? Is it possible to find the place where Truls and Olia and Kristian and Thora lived?
And is it possible to find a person who can sell me this biographical history book of about 250 pages (it was put together for the Pederson-Trulson family reunion by Darlene Rommann of Weyburn)?
In advance, thank you very much for your help!
If you wonder what I look like, you may find a photo at this web address: www.Nittedal.kommune.no/lydboker <http://www.Nittedal.kommune.no/lydboker> .
If you speak Norwegian, I would recommend to listen to Sara Andersen, born in 1888.
If you prefer to send me an e-mail, send a message through my cousin Ole Erik Ruud on R...@east.no.
I would be happy if one of you would send me a letter.
Best wishes from:
