Writer responds to water article

The Editor:

This is in response to the article in the February 22 edition of The Mercury, "Family frustrated by getting flooded out".

I felt it was imperative that I comment on some of the allegations and half-truths implied. As a flooded out victim of last spring's events I take great issue in the notion that this family was not brought into the loop of what was going to be done to try to drain the water from our area.

There were numerous times a member of the family was consulted and always declined help. Yes, this family does have water at their farm, but it can be moved. Water flows downhill.

The water we have came from somewhere else also. Come look at our farm and try to understand why the "unapproved" drainage plan was a good idea for us and others.

We have not lived there since last June and may never be able to live there again if the water does not drain. Thirty-three years of hopes and dreams gone, NOT because of fellow land owners or rural municipalities, but as I see it, poor and irresponsible management from the Saskatchewan Watershed Authority.
