Julia Miskosky

Julia Miskosky

Julianna “Julia” Miskosky April 27, 1916 – May 11, 2012 The death of Mrs. Julianna “Julia” (nee Schmidt) Miskosky of LeRoy, SK, occurred at Humboldt District Hospital, Humboldt, SK, on Friday, May 11, 2012. She was 96 years of age, and the last surviving member of her generation. Julia, one of ten children, was born on April 27, 1916, to Carl and Theresa (nee Simmett) Schmidt at home on the family farm on the outskirts of St. Gregor. She was raised there and attended the local school. At the age of 19, Julia married William Miskosky. Eight children, four sons and four daughters, were born to them. Julia was a very family-oriented lady and loved her role as a homemaker, wife and mother. The Miskoskys resided in various places in the Humboldt area, eventually settling in the community of LeRoy. In 1986, William passed away. Julia continued living in her home in LeRoy until one month before her 96th birthday, which was a few weeks ago, when she was hospitalized in Humboldt, where her family was nearly constantly at her side. Over the years, Julia enjoyed a variety of hobbies, especially crocheting, doing various kinds of word puzzles, trying her luck with scratch-and-win lotto tickets, and reading to keep her mind active. She had a sharp, keen memory and kept her faculties to the end. Julia will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by four sons and three daughters: Clifford (Carol) Miskosky of Surrey, BC; Vernon (Sharon) Miskosky of Vernon, BC; Jackeline Weisgerber and Josephine Wakelam, both of LeRoy; Gerald (Edna) Miskosky and Gordon (Carol) Miskosky, all of Vernon, BC; and Lois (Louis) Martel of Regina, SK; 17 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, William Miskosky; daughter, Louise Schueller; two sons-in-law: Pat Weisgerber and Jim Wakelam; and by all nine of her siblings. The Funeral Mass for Julia was held at Holy Rosary R.C. Church, LeRoy, on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at 10:30 a.m., celebrated by Fr. Paul Paproski, OSB. Others taking part were: Deklan Katelnikoff and Draven Schueller, crossbearers; Alana Garandza and Kathy Maier, scripture readers; Dylan Dobmeier and Jenna Dobmeier, giftbearers; Leona Wakelam, music ministry; and David Wakelam, urnbearer. Honorary pallbearers were “all those who shared in Julia’s life.” Interment followed at Holy Rosary R.C. Cemetery. Memorial donations may be directed to the Canadian Cancer Society. Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel, Humboldt, SK.
