MARY SWIDROVICH (NEE PASICHNYK):

MARY SWIDROVICH (NEE PASICHNYK): With great sadness we announce the passing of Mary Swidrovich on July 16, 2012. She was a much loved wife, mother, grandmother and "baba". Mom was born on a farm near Prud'homme, SK, on Dec. 17, 1933, during a typical Saskatchewan winter blizzard. She went to school in Kinley, Sask. and got her grade 12 at Saskatoon Technical Collegiate. Afterward, she attended Saskatoon Business College for Secretarial training. On October 16, 1954, she married Paul. Almost exactly a year later, they had their first child (Brian) with daughter Lorraine a couple years after and their youngest daughter, Joyce, two years later. Along with Dad, Mom was a loving and doting parent; in fact, she was a self-proclaimed "worrier" who remained concerned and always interested in her children's (and grandchildren's) well being. Mom was also a tireless worker, finding employment in most of the places Dad was posted to with the Wheat Pool. She worked at the Post Office in Wolfe for 5 years and then at the Unity Delta Co-op in both the Meat Dept and as a cashier. For several years, Mom was also the Secretary at Unity Composite High School. After relocating to North Battleford, Mom worked for Stats-Canada`s Labour Force Survey. When Dad retired in 1986, they moved to Saskatoon and Mom continued to work, this time for 6 years in the Saskatoon Inn`s Banquet Dept.; Mom finally retired in 1993; however, she was never one to remain idle. Anyone who knew her recalls the many years of interior and exterior home painting, avid gardening, pickling, canning and preserving. Her pickles, perogies and borscht continue to have legendary renown! Over the past difficult weeks, we have been most grateful for the respectful care by the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Paul's Hospital. Mom was predeceased by her parents, Joe and Josephine Pashichnyk. She is survived by her loving family, husband Paul, son Brian (Sherri), daughter Lorraine (Wayne), and daughter Joyce. She was very close to her grandchildren also: Shaina (Brock), Jaris, Jenna, Sharla and Tyson. She also leaves her only great-grandchild, Raeya Mary Charlton (Shaina). She continually expressed tremendous pride in her children and grandchildren and especially in their achievements. In lieu of flowers, donations are respectfully asked to be made to either the Saskatoon SPCA (5028 Clarence Avenue South, Saskatoon, SK S7T 1A7) or the 107 Spitfire Air Cadets (c/o Canada Remembers - 2407 Ave. C. N., Saskatoon S7L 6T1). Charitable receipts provided as requested. The Cadets are a primary supporter of the "Canada Remembers Our Heroes" Tribute to Veterans; this will be the first time in 18 years that Mom will be missing from the front row. We all love you and will miss you Mom. And we know you'll be watching our families from above. A Come and Go viewing will be held on Thursday, July 19th, from 7 - 8:30 pm at Mourning Glory Funeral Services (1201 - 8th St. E.) The Divine Liturgy will be celebrated Friday, July 20th at 10:00 am from St. George's Ukrainian Catholic Parish (214 Avenue M S). Arrangements in care of David Polzen - MOURNING GLORY FUNERAL SERVICES (978-5200) www.mourningglory.ca ____________________________________________________
