The Rural Municipality of Maryfield No. 91 is holding its 100 year celebration the weekend of July 27 to 29. With lots of fun activities and events it is bound to be a wonderful weekend.
Beginning on Friday at 7:30 p.m. is the extremely talented Saskatchewan Express. They will be performing in the Maryfield Auditorium. Advance tickets are available through the RM office at 646-2033, or may be purchased at the door.
Rush seating is in place so plan to arrive early for the best seats in the house. The tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students, and anyone 5 and under are free. The evening will conclude with a fireworks display in the Maryfield Rink Parking Lot.
The next day hosts the official celebration, but will consist of so much more. The day will start with a pancake breakfast held at the Maryfield Curling Rink and hosted by the Maryfield Lions Club at 8 a.m. A parade at 10 a.m. will find its way through downtown Maryfield, beginning at the school.
Lunch will be available from a number of locations in the town around noon. Between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. there will be children’s activities held at the Maryfield Rink parking lot hosted by the Borderland Co-op.
The official ceremonies for the 100 year celebration will be held at 2:30 p.m. It will be held on the east side of the curling rink in a tent. With speeches by dignitaries and the unveiling of a centennial plaque it is the reason for the festivities.
At 5:30 p.m. pre-supper cocktails are going to be served at the Maryfield Curling Rink, with supper held at 6 p.m. Only advanced tickets will get you into the meal and after supper entertainment in the form of Martin Janovsky.
Following the after supper entertainment will be a cabaret featuring Third Degree Birnz. Continuing celebrations at the curling rink the tickets for the cabaret will be available at the door for only $10 a person.
Sunday will see an interdenominational church service at 10 a.m. in the Maryfield Auditorium. This will be followed by a brunch at 11 a.m. hosted by the Maryfield Ag Society in the curling rink.
This is sure to be an amazing way to enjoy the weekend and celebrate a great milestone in history.
