Seven local veterans proudly display their honourary high school diplomas, presented on Monday night as a highlight of the Triple C Centre’s fundraising concert. The veterans are, from left to right, Jim Achen, William John (Red) Hearn, John Paslawski, Casper Lix, Howard Schmidt, Royden Wallin and May Wright. The veterans were presented with their honourary diplomas as they did not achieve graduation due to signing up for service in the Second World War; this was the first time the Weyburn Comprehensive School has ever awarded honourary diplomas, and a photo of the recipients will be displayed along with the photos of graduation classes, taken each year. The theme for the evening was a “Salute to our Veterans and Those Who Serve”, and featured the RCAF Command Brass, and the RCAF Pipe and Drums corps. Another highlight of the evening was the presentation of several donors who collectively donated a total of $515,000 to the Triple C Centre, bringing their total to well over $3 million.
