Natasha Vandenhurk and Elysia Vandenhurk set up bottles of their families’ Three Farmers Camelina Oil during an appearance on CBC-TV’s Dragon’s Den, which was broadcast on Wednesday evening. The poster on the table shows the name-sake “Three Farmers” who grow the camelina oilseed, including Dan Vandenhurk, Ron Emde and Colin Rosengren. The company’s pitch for investment was successful, as “Dragon” Arlene Dickinson agreed to invest $150,000 in return for 20 per cent of the company. The investment will be used mainly for marketing of the cooking oil to expand the markets and awareness of the oil, as they are the only company in Canada to produce this oil, produced from the oilseed grown exclusively on the farms in the Midale area.
