L.A. residents in Mexico for Jan. wedding

Lake Alma (cpd) — Several residents from the area traveled to Mexico on Jan. 6 to attend the wedding of Brandon Lohse, son of Roy and Myrna Lohse of Beaubier to Paula Scheelar, daughter of Cam and Karen Scheelar and Collette and Rod Thomas of Calgary, Alta.

Other family and friends from the area attending were Melissa Lohse, Kevin and Annette Lohse, Farrah and Travis Klatt, Gina and Garret Kapustinsky, Duane Nicholas and Vivian, Micael and Aaron Lund, Orry and Courtney Doud, Mykelle and Daxon, Jim and Jean Doud, Chance Doud, Matthew Clausen, Greg Johnson, Lee Tytlandsvik, Wade Wimmer and Erika Englot.

The wedding took place on Jan. 9 at Dreams Puerto Aventuras Resort on the Mayan Riviera. Many of the bride family and friends from Alberta attended also, making for a fun group of 53 in attendance.

The group all returned home on Jan. 13 and Brandon and Paula honeymooned and returned on Jan. 20.

The Lake Alma Recreation Board held a snowmobile derby on Feb. 9. A ham supper was served at the Lake Alma Hall after the snowmobile derby. High hand was held by Verna Rude and low hand was held by Steph Fradette. Brad Wimmer won the 50/50 draw which totaled $156. A vintage run was held by the elevator with 17 snowmobiles competing.

Clare and Ida Offet spent Feb. 10 and 11 at Moosomin with Deena Offet and their grandchildren. They returned home before the storm moved in.  

Then on Feb. 13, they traveled to Regina where they stayed with Rachel and Jessica Brown and Janessa Bell until Feb. 15. They were joined by Donald and Marie Jacobson at the Brown residence where they enjoyed a few games of cards and visiting.

A turkey supper was enjoyed on Feb. 14 for Valentine’s Day with all the trimmings in celebration of Craig and Charmaine Offet’s 20th wedding anniversary, which was on Feb. 13. Joining them were Tim and Shelley Russell, Stacey, Kieran and Avah Hansvill, their daughter Courtney and friend Tia Ross and Carson Bell, Carmen Astrope and Klayton, and Darcie Bell.

The Offets returned to Weyburn on Feb. 15 in time for coffee at their apartment complex at Greystone Manor.

Delores and Duane Larsen of Weyburn spent Feb. 16 with their daughter Myrna and Roy Lohse at their farm at Beaubier checking out all the newborn calves.  There was 27 that day. Melissa Lohse of Lake Alma joined them and they went to the CanAm at Oungre for supper before returning to Weyburn.

The school students and bus drivers enjoyed a week off from Feb. 19 to 22, but the weather wasn’t the best, stormy and very cold and windy ­— only in Saskatchewan.
