Residents can protect their property by doing the following:
When leaving your vehicle, make sure there are no valuables left in plain sight. Valuables can include items such as keys, personal identification, clothing, MP3 players, tablets, etc.
Never leave your keys in an unattended vehicle, roll up your windows and always lock the doors. If you have a garage, park your vehicle in it.
Do not hide or leave spare keys in your vehicle.
Keep your yard and property well lit to deter thieves. Motion sensor lights can assist with this. Store bicycles, toys, etc. in an area that is locked.
Review your doors to ensure they are functioning properly: solid construction, strike plates working and properly installed, deadbolts.
