Truck destroyed in train collision

Review photo 3727 — Greg Nikkel

Firefighters look over the semi truck that was hit by a CP freight train at the Queen Street crossing near Highway 39 on Wednesday afternoon. The driver escaped with minor injuries, for which he was treated and released from hospital; police say he had stopped at the stop sign and was proceeding across the tracks when the train came around the curve, but the driver didn’t see it. The trailer, full of sand, was wrapped around the front of the engine and was pushed down the tracks a ways before the train could stop. The accident is under investigation by the city police along with CP Police.
