Young Fellows host 57th annual auction

Comments

The Young Fellows Club of Weyburn are hosting their 57th annual community fundraising auction. Only online bidding is accepted for the auction, and residents can register at the Young Fellows website, located at www.youngfellowsclub.ca.

“We are looking forward to another profitable year, since this is one of our biggest projects of the year,” said Kurtis Schwindt, Young Fellow representative. He noted that three-quarters of the club’s fundraising efforts comes from the auction.

The online bidding website went live on March 24, so that residents could have an opportunity to register as a bidder and view items online. Bidding has also started, and residents can check out the current bid of their preferred items before the final date of the auction, April 12. There have been over 400 items collected for the auction.

Some of the ‘priceless’ items include 11 hours of rig time donated by PetroTherm Rod Rig, 20 hours of inclusive service rig time donated by Aaron Well Servicing, a framed Kory Sheets autographed Roughriders jersey, a Gene Makowsky autographed Roughriders jersey, and a signed Calgary Stampeders jersey by Brett Jones.

For details on the majority of auction items, residents can check out the Booster wrap from the April 4 publication. “We still have some last-minute items that are being donated,” said Schwindt. “But there is lots of different items for everyone.”

The annual auction has evolved over the years, starting as a radio auction, then a TV auction, and now an Internet auction. No phone bids will be accepted.

There is an Internet support phone number, which is 306-504-0434. Additional tech support during the auction is offered by emailing yfauct...@myaccess.ca.

“We have changed the format over the last couple of years, when we noticed more and more people are going online. People can even bid over their smart phones, so they don’t even have to come down,” said Schwindt.

There will be a special display of all the auction items at 28 Second Street on Saturday, April 12 from noon to 9 p.m.

Items must be picked up on Sunday, April 13 from noon to 5 p.m. All payments will be verified during pick-up day.
