Looking over items at hazardous waste collection depot

Review photo 4886 — Greg Nikkel

Anika Hoffman of Envirotec looks curiously at a pail of green motor oil, brought in by Ian Isaak, as assistant engineer Jesse Watamanuk looks on, during the City of Weyburn’s Hazardous Waste Day on May 31 at the city’s workshop. Residents were encouraged to bring in any items that cannot be safely disposed of in the landfill, everything from fluorescent light bulbs and Ni-Cad batteries, to acids, bases, cleaners, aerosol cans, flammable liquids, adhesives and even old propane tanks. Around 75 city residents brought in items, with over 15 205-litre barrels filled or partially filled.
