A new preschool will be opened in Weyburn this fall. Elise Winter and Chantel Temple will run the preschool program upstairs at the Knox Hall beginning on September 30.
“We worked at a daycare together, and both wanted to run our own preschool,” said Temple. Both woman are certified with Early Childhood Education.
“I was taking in kids, babysitting them, and it fireballed from there,” added Winter.
The new preschool, which yet has been named, is for ages two-and-a-half (30 months) to four years. “We wanted to give parents more options,” said Winter.
“Parents are always looking for more programs for this age range, and it will give them another option for education,” added Temple. The programs include circle time, crafts, building social skills, table-top, show and tell and other age appropriate activities for the children.
“We have access to the gym at Knox Hall, so this will give us the opportunity to do relays and other fun games,” said Temple.
Classes will be offered twice a day at 9 to 11:30 a.m., and again at 1 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays will be geared for ages two-and-half to three-and-half; with Wednesdays and Fridays to be geared for ages three-and-half to four years.
They will accept registration throughout the year, as long as there is space permitting.
Right now they are busy getting their new space ready for the preschool, and are seeking any donations to the program.
