Y.G. library to host Go! science prog.

Yellow Grass (cpd) — The Go! Science outreach Sask. Science Centre team will be in Yellow Grass on Thursday, Aug. 14 from 12:30 to 4 p.m. The three programs are designed to create fun and an interactive learning environment through crazy circuits, strong structures, and innovative inventors. The program is free and designed for children in Grades 1 to 6. Snacks will be provided by the Yellow Grass branch library, and it is also hosted by the library. The theme is “Makers and Dreamers”.

Herbert Carl Wilke of Regina and formerly of Yellow Grass passed away on July 20 at 90 years of age. A memorial services was held on Aug. 9 at the Yellow Grass United Church and Linda Owens officiated.

Ice cream is being sold at the Drop In Centre every Tuesday and Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m., in August. Everyone is welcome.

A barbecue was held at the Drop In Centre on Aug. 2.

Winners of crib at the Drop In Centre on July 25 were Otto Dreger in first, Grace Quigley in second and Rena Wilke in third.

The Summer Reading Program finished for the summer on July 25. There were 20 children at the program, and they each made a keychain and played a game of hot potato.

Cookies and juice were served while student volunteer Zack Nicholson read five books. The books were: “Some Bugs”; “The OK Book”; “Twinkle Twinkle Little Bug”; “Brownie and Pearl Take a Dip” and “What’s the Magic Word?” Certificates of participation were given to each child who attended, and a gift bag was given as well.

Sharon Elliott led the Sunday morning worship service for the Yellow Grass United Lutheran Partnership Church on July 27. Pastor David Hanes was on holidays until Aug. 5. Contact Rev. Mohandas Barnabas at the Grace United Church in Weyburn if there is an emergency.

Firepits are allowed in Yellow Grass if they have a grill or grate and are self contained. Small fires are encouraged. Residents are reminded to extinguish the fire after they are done using it.
