MONTREAL - A Quebec judge has ruled that a Crown prosecutor can appeal a sentence handed to man who killed a toddler with his car on the day he turned 18.
Brandon Pardi was found guilty last December of dangerous driving causing the death of three-year-old Bianca Leduc in 2007.
A Quebec judge sentenced Pardi to two years less a day to be served in the community with the first year under house arrest with conditions.
The Crown had argued for a four-year prison term.
But prosecutor Joey Dubois said errors were found in the initial ruling and asked for the case to be brought before the Quebec Court of Appeal.
Pardi's case gained national notoriety when he fought to be tried as a juvenile.
The Supreme Court of Canada, however, refused to hear his case and he was tried as an adult.
