EDMONTON - An Alberta man accused in the shooting deaths of three fellow armoured car guards is next to appear in court Aug. 16.
Neither Travis Baumgartner nor his lawyer appeared when his case came up briefly in an Edmonton court Thursday.
Baumgartner, 21, is charged with first-degree murder, attempted murder and robbery with a firearm.
Police say he was one of five armed guards loading a bank machine at the University of Alberta on June 15 when shots rang out.
Brian Ilesic, 35, Eddie Rejano, 39, and Michelle Shegelski, 26, died at the scene.
Another guard, Matthew Schuman, is recovering in hospital from bullet wounds to the head.
They were all employees of G4S Canada.
Baumgartner was arrested a day later as he tried to cross the Canada-U.S. border with $334,000 in a backpack.
Soon after the shooting, police said Baumgartner was a person of interest, but they upgraded that to a suspect when they issued a warrant for his arrest hours later.
About 500 people attended a private memorial in Edmonton on June 24 for the victims.
