NASCAR, Fox Deportes reach deal to provide coverage of 15 Cup races

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - NASCAR has reached a deal in which FOX Deportes will cover 15 Sprint Cup Series races next year.

Six races will be carried live on the Spanish-language network, including the Daytona 500, and the rest will air on tape-delay. FOX Deportes will also produce programs focused on engaging the Latino fan base. The deal was announced Monday

Steve Herbst, NASCAR vice-president of broadcasting and production, says the series is eager to expose the sport to new audiences. Vincent Cordero, executive vice-president and general manager of FOX Deportes, called the deal a milestone for his network.

Fox Deportes says it reaches more than 20 million cable and satellite households in the United States. It is part of News Corp.'s Fox Sports Media Group.
