With Pentagon's reduction in furlough days, Groton sub museum goes back to original schedule

GROTON, Conn. - The Groton museum dedicated to the United States submarine force is going back to its original schedule.

Beginning last month, budgets cuts at the Pentagon forced the Historic Ship Nautilus and Submarine Force Library and Museum to be closed on Mondays, in addition to its regularly scheduled closures on Tuesday.

But the U.S. Navy says the museum will reopen on Mondays beginning next week as a result of the Defence Department's reduction in civilian employee furlough days.

The museum featuring the Nautilus, the world's first nuclear-powered submarine, is free and open to the public.
