St. Michael students Matthew O'Neill and Joel Niemegeers carefully bag a soil sample from an auger, as their team-mates Chantal Vogel, Mary Sidloski and Julie Ducharme watch, during an outing by the Grade 8 class to River Park on Thursday. In conjunction with environmental company Matrix Solutions, the class simulated a pipeline leak, and the students took water and soil samples to try and pinpoint the source of the leak; in their studies, the students learned about the environmental impacts that industry sometimes can have on their surroundings, and how negative effects can be mitigated.
