The Chamber is still accepting nominations for the 2014 WEYBEX awards. These biennial awards are open to all businesses, organizations and individuals, in the City of Weyburn and the immediate area.

Nominees may submit their own nomination or a third party may submit the nomination. All nominations must include signed consent of the nominee. Nomination forms are available on-line on the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce website.

Tickets for the WEYBEX awards will be available starting April 11, and the event will be held Friday, May 23, at McKenna Hall. Tickets can be purchased by contacting the Weyburn Chamber.

The WEYBEX winners are forwarded to the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce ABEX awards in Regina.

There are six categories of the WEYBEX awards. The Business of the Year, sponsored by the Prairie Sky Co-op, is open to all businesses that have operated in Weyburn for at least three years.
To be awarded the Business of the Year, the business must exemplify the entrepreneurial spirit and demonstrate outstanding achievement and commitment to excellence and quality in their field. Candidates will be judged according to growth, use of capital investment, exports, job creation, stability and community involvement.

The Business Leader of the Year, sponsored by Cenovus Energy, is awarded to an individual who exemplifies the qualities of the business visionary. Emphasis will be given to outstanding leadership, ethical business practices and a record of outstanding corporate citizenship.

The Golden Service award, sponsored by MNP, will recognize a business dedicated to customer satisfaction that consistently demonstrates excellence in the delivery of its products, services and hospitality. Criteria will include services offered by the business and training programs offered for staff and management.
The Community Involvement award, sponsored by SaskEnergy, is awarded to a business that demonstrates outstanding performance in its contribution to recreation, amateur sports, arts and culture, education, charitable or non-profit groups and business development and promotion of the city.

The New or Expanded Business award, sponsored by Sunrise Community Futures, will be awarded to a business that was established or expanded within the past two years and has demonstrated exceptional performance in terms of expansion into a new project, service, line of business, or the creation of new markets and jobs.

The Business Hall of Fame award, sponsored by New Age Electronics, is designed to recognize pioneer and cornerstone business leaders who have demonstrated excellence over an extended period of time and whose business has contributed to the economic well-being of Weyburn and immediate area.

The business must have been in continuous operation for at least 15 years. An individual that has owned or operated several businesses over a minimum of 15 consecutive years will also be eligible.

Names of the winners will remain in the Chamber's Business Hall of Fame.
