The town of Defiance, in what used to be St. Louis, is an example of what happens when humans and aliens live together.

Amongst the town's many residents are former soldier Nolan (Grant Bowler) and his adoptive Irathient daughter, Irisa (Stephanie Leonidas); the former mayor, Amanda Rosewater (Julie Benz); Rafe McCawley (Graham Greene), a powerful miner; the ambitious, alien Tarr family, Datak and Stahma (Tony Curran and Jaime Murray), along with son Alak and human wife Christie (Jesse Rath and Nicole Munoz); lawman Tommy (Dewshane Williams) and cantankerous Indogene Doc Yewll (Trenna Keating).

Season two will introduce a few new characters, now that the Earth Republic has taken over the town, including new mayor, Niles Pottinger (Jim Murray) and his ruthless and sarcastic boss Viceroy Mercado (William Atherton). Another new cast member is Earth Republic soldier Jessica "Berlin" Rainer (Anna Hopkins).

Keating started studying acting at the age of 10. She has held a variety of positions imaginable in the film industry - including a stand-in, casting assistant, background casting director and director's assistant, to name a few. She is also a playwright.

Film and television credits include Combat Hospital, A Dog Named Christmas, Corner Gas, Little Mosque on the Prairie, A Prairie Giant - The Tommy Douglas Story, Just Friends, and Renegadepress.com.

Doc Yewll was named a "breakout character" after the first season of Defiance. Many fans have called Keating's character "the most fascinating alien" since Odo on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. The influence and popularity of Doc has also appeared on fan posts in Pinterest, tumble and Instagram.

Keating said is looking forward to about seasons two since the plots gets a little darker, and the characters get a little sexier.
