Students had to apply the laws of physics and the equations for projectile motion to design a catapult that can accurately launch a marshmallow and hit a designated target. All catapults were composed of materials provided in class. Students were graded on design plan, data collection and analysis, their conclusion from the project, and the ability to hit target in three tries or less. They also had to create a diagram of their catapult, which required all dimensions labeled, and a data table that included time of flight, distance flown in horizontal direction and angle of their launch.
