Weyburn fire fighters watched as a fire burned in a pile of plastic-coated copper and aluminum wiring in the compound at Mryglod Steel and Metal on Wednesday evening. The Fire Department was having a training night at the Fire Hall nearby, and saw the fire shortly after 8 p.m. They responded with 26 fire fighters and all five trucks, and were on the scene until about 1:30 a.m. The fire was quite large, and the piles had to be separated to enable the fire to be completely extinguished. The cause of the fire is not known, and is under investigation by the Fire Department. There were no injuries at the scene.
