Pangman School will hold Christmas concert Dec. 18

Pangman (cpd) — The Pangman School Christmas concert will take place on Thursday, Dec. 18, starting at 7 p.m. “The 12 Days of Christmas” will be presented by the Kindergarten to Grade 5 classes and Christmas skits will be done by the Grade 6 to 8 students. Academic awards will follow the plays.
Admission is a $2 donation or more toward the Grade 6 to 8 We Day project: Ready, Set, Goat! For a family in a developing community, one goat opens up a world of possibilities. A dairy goat means daily nutrition and income from milk, giving the family a chance to send their children to school. Each donation includes basic animal care training so families can turn their goat into an investment that will grow for years to come. Fifty dollars buys one goat for one family.
The Pangman Co-op board and staff attended their Christmas get-together at the Khedive Heritage Hall.
On Dec. 6, Barry Morrow from Ogema became a resident at the Deep South Personal Care Home.
The Pangman School held their annual bazaar a the school gym on Dec. 6. Many tables showed their goods and many attended. Santa arrived and handed out candy bags to all children and residents at the Deep South Personal Care Home.
The Deep South Personal Care Home celebrated Christmas on Dec. 7. Many guests attended their supper. Gerry Tondevold and Ruth Bartlett sang Christmas carols with the residents and guests.
The regular school curling program for Grades 5 to 12 will start up after school after the Christmas break. A new program called “Little Rockers” is being offered to the students in Grades 3 to 6 to introduce them to curling basics. This program will be offered after school over a number of weeks and will take place in the Ogema facility. Those that are interested are encouraged to contact Judy Myren at the school.
The student of the month award for the Kindergarten to Grade 2 class for the month of November went to TJ Hicks, for his increased willingness to cooperate with Miss Quigley in the classroom.
The student of the month award for students in Grades 3 to 5 went to Emma Vickzco for her consistent, conscientious effort in her daily work and positive leadership. The student of the month award for Grades 6 to 8 went to Gabriel Cherpin. Gabriel consistently works hard, does his best work in class and always makes sure he has his homework before he leaves. He also holds the door open for other students at recess.
The student of the month award for students in Grades 9 and 10 went to Nikita Ruiz Reyes for being respectful and consistently polite. The student of the month award for Grades 11 and 12 went to Ocean Larson for her willingness to assist her teacher during physical education and food studies.
On Dec. 6, Cody Kessler from Stapleton, Neb. (a former Pangman resident) participated in a jiu jitsu tournament in Wichita, Kansas, where he won the gold medal. Kessler competed in the 155 to 175 pound white belt division (under two years of experience).
Cash Anderson competed in the Dummy Roping Championship at the Regina Agribition and won second place.
On Dec. 6, six residents of the Deep South Personal Care Home participated in their weekly 10 frame beanbag tournament. Doris Sambrook placed first with a score of 53 points, Mary Spooner placed second with a score of 48, and Muriel Horner placed third with a score of 43.
On Dec. 5, some of the residents of the Deep South Personal Care Home decorated gingerbread houses. On Dec. 9, Pastor Kelly from Lake Alma went to the home during the afternoon for a church service.
The last day of school for 2014 at Pangman School will be Monday, Dec. 22. Classes will resume on Monday, Jan. 5.
