Envision Counselling and Support Centre was chosen to receive the funds from Savour the Southeast 2018, which will be held in Estevan on Saturday, May 5.

The event will provide taste-testing of food, wine, beer and spirits, along with live music from three bands, including League of Wolves, Justin Labrash and Fogdog.

Envision offers support, counselling, and awareness education to individuals and families in the southeast. Education and prevention have become the cornerstone of their vision to influence healthy change in the community at large. They currently offer awareness presentations in the schools that reach more than 1,500 students.

One of the main components of the Outreach Education and Awareness Program is cyberviolence and on-line safety. Envision’s school presentations offer tools to process and understand the ramifications of acting on the images and influences in society.

They hope that by taking the message of prevention and awareness into the classroom, beliefs about fundamental human interaction, whether through electronic or face-to-face encounters, can be positively impacted.

With nearly 25 years of support and counselling services, Envision has expanded over time to include offices in four communities: Weyburn, Estevan, Carlyle, and Oxbow.

In the past year, Envision helped individuals in the southeast with more than 3,000 individual counselling sessions. Primary counselling services include family crisis, partner abuse, sexual assault, relationship breakdown, cyber-violence and grief. There is no charge for counselling.

“Staff and volunteers at Envision are thrilled to be selected to receive the funds raised at Savour the Southeast in 2018. As a charity that operates in the Southeast, from Redvers to Weyburn, to our office in Estevan, we see this as a perfect fit,” said Christa Daku, Envision’s Executive Director.

Tickets for Savour the Southeast will cost $35 in advance or $45 at the door, plus for sampling, tokens are sold in books of 10 tickets for $10 each. Sampling will be by a token system only, and sample pricing is at the discretion of each vendor.

Doors will open for tasting at 7 p.m., and the cabaret will run from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. Tickets are available at Hender’s Drugs, or online at www.savoursoutheast.com.
