The 2017 Weyburn Fair will look very different from what people have been used to for generations, as Canuck Amusements, the midway ride company, will not be coming to the Fair this year, city council was told by Coun. Winston Bailey in his report from the Weyburn Agricultural Society.
The Ag Society has formed a committee to try and find alternative attractions for the exhibition grounds, including entertainment and/or rides, he said.
“We’ll probably have a different picture of the fair than in the past. There will be stuff there, but it might not be what you would traditionally find,” said Coun. Bailey.
In other council business, council approved a rate of $6.45 per household per month as the charge for the new curbside recycling service that will start in July.
The City has awarded a five-year contract to Regens for the service, and they will supply bins to every single-family residence in Weyburn before July. The monthly charge will be added to the monthly utility bill to residents. Businesses and condos will not be affected, and those residents who already have contracted a company for curbside recycling will be able to continue with that company, but they need to notify City Hall if they have made that arrangement.
