The Yellow Grass branch of the Royal Canadian Legion, which closed its doors two years ago, gives a donation of $6,904.53 to the Weyburn and District Hospital Foundation on Nov. 10. From left to right are Ellwood Whitrow, Mike Hoffman of the Hospital Foundation, Isabel Whitrow and Lorna Obst of the Yellow Grass Legion. Branch No. 266 was established in 1949, and closed in 2012 due to a lack of members; they had held bingos, stew suppers and flea markets over the years as fundraisers, and these were the last three members. As part of closing out the books of the Legion, they also made donations of $1,237.73, proceeds from their poppy campaigns, to each of the Weyburn Special Care Home and Tatagwa View care home, for the canteen funds for veterans at each facility.
