The Weyburn Police Service are investigating a significant internal fraud involving a local business after receiving a report on Saturday. The matter is still under investigation.
Weyburn police received a report of a vehicle having collided with private property at about 10:40 p.m. on Thursday. The investigation determined that the 17-year-old driver of the vehicle was driving without due care and attention and was issued a ticket for that offence.
City police received a report of a collision regarding a semi-trailer unit hauling hay and a light post on Sept. 12. The matter has been referred to SGI.
Weyburn police received a complaint regarding a significant credit card fraud on Sept. 12. The matter is still under investigation.
City police received reports at about 7:33 p.m. on Sept. 12 of four seven-year-old children who were missing and had not returned home. The boys were soon discovered near their homes in a wooded area of the city.
Police said this incident should underscore the importance of keeping track of minor children at all times. The recent tragic and horrific events of last week in other areas of the province should underscore just how quickly things can happen that are beyond anyone’s control.
Weyburn police received a report of an adult female having been sexually assaulted. The investigation has concluded and as a result a 59-year-old area male was charged with one count of sexual assault on Wednesday. Both the victim and the accused were known to each other. There is no public safety concern. The male will be making a future court appearance.
Weyburn police received a call regarding a domestic dispute involving a 44-year-old female on Sept. 11. Upon attending, the matter was mediated without further need for police intervention.
City police dealt with a 53-year-old female throughout the day on Wednesday. At one point the female was taken into custody pursuant to the Mental Health Act and was being treated at the hospital.
Weyburn police received a report of a vehicle having been stolen from within the city on Wednesday. The vehicle was subsequently recovered in Moose Jaw. Anyone having information about this incident is asked to contact either the Weyburn Police Service, or to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
Weyburn police received a call regarding a possible breach of a probation order at about 3:25 p.m. on Wednesday. As a result, a 55-year-old male was arrested and has been charged with breach of probation.
City police received a few complaints about thefts of property from unlocked vehicles. Police said the solution is quite simple – lock your vehicle.
While on patrol on Wednesday, a vehicle stop was conducted, which resulted in a 28-year-old male being charged with driving while his licence was suspended.
While on patrol on Thursday, a member of the Weyburn PS CTSS Unit received a ‘hit’ from the automated licence reader regarding a possible suspended driver. A traffic stop was conducted and as a result, a 22-year-old male was charged with driving while suspended.
