Police investigate scam calls to residents

Weyburn police received numerous reports of a potential scam involving a home alarm system on Nov. 14. The subject claims to be an employee of GE Electric and shows a picture of an alarm panel stating it needs changed. Investigation is ongoing with this matter and police want the public to be aware and call police if this person shows up at their residence.
City police received numerous calls of another scam on Saturday. Under this scam, a person receives a text from their bank regarding an e-transfer. Unless you know you are getting an e-transfer, it will be a scam unless you are expecting e-transfers from someone, and if you know them. It is not normal to receive e-transfers from your own bank and if you are unsure then check with your bank first.
Police responded to a report of 50 cows being out by Highway 35 by the Livestock Exchange on Nov. 13. Police assisted in getting cattle to safety as it was very foggy and posed a risk to motorists.
City police responded to a report of a suicidal person on Nov. 14. Police assisted in encouraging the person to go to the hospital to receive help.
A woman reported on Thursday to police that she had been assaulted by her ex-boyfriend. He had been placed on conditions to have no contact with the female victim. A male suspect was found and arrested by police, and he was remanded in custody for court in Weyburn at a later date.
City police received a report of a suicidal male on Friday. Police were able to find the male at a local residence. The male was in distress and agreed to go with police to the hospital for help.
Weyburn police observed an erratic driver while on patrol on Friday. Emergency lights were activated and the suspect vehicle (a silver or white Lexus) failed to stop for police and evaded the stop. The investigation is ongoing.
Weyburn police received a call from a local drinking establishment on Sunday, asking for assistance in removing patrons unwilling to vacate the premises. Police assisted in getting the patrons to leave, but one adult male was arrested for being drunk in public and was placed in police cells until sober.
City police received a report from a concerned citizen of a domestic disturbance in progress on Sunday. Police attended to the address and found that a female was wanted for outstanding warrants. The disturbance was mediated first by police, and a female was then arrested and brought to Weyburn Police Service where she was released for court at a later date.
Police received a report of a suicidal male on Sunday. Police attended and transported the distressed male to Weyburn General Hospital for help.
