Weyburn police investigate fraud complaint

The Weyburn Police Service received a complaint of a fraud after a potential buyer contacted the complainant, who was trying to sell a vehicle on Kijiji, on Sunday.

The Weyburn Police Service received a complaint of a fraud after a potential buyer contacted the complainant, who was trying to sell a vehicle on Kijiji, on Sunday. The buyer had negotiated a price above the asking price, but wanted some money wired from the seller before they would pay the premium price. The complainant did not send any money.

City police received a report of found property on Thursday, which had been stolen overnight from a parked vehicle. Also stolen was a small amount of cash. Members of the public are reminded to lock their vehicles and to remove any valuables when leaving their vehicles unattended.
Police received a report of an assault on Friday, after the victim attended the Weyburn Police Service and advised officers she had been grabbed and pushed into a wall. The investigation resulted in a 26-year-old man being arrested and charged with assault. He was released from custody and will appear in court at a later date.
Weyburn police was called to Third Street SE and Sixth Avenue regarding an intoxicated individual on Oct. 8. A 29-year-old female was arrested and then shortly released into the care of a friend. No charges were laid.
Members of the Weyburn Police Service were called twice to the same residence on Oct. 9 regarding a noisy party. The person in charge of the dwelling was warned during the first call, but shortly after police were called again regarding ongoing noise. Police attended and after those in attendance had left, the person in charge of the residence, a 17-year-old male, was charged under the noise bylaw.
Police were called in regard to a domestic involving a mother and daughter on Oct. 10. Upon arrival it was determined one of the parties had left the home. Police determined all involved were safe.
Members of the Weyburn Police Service conducted a curfew check at a local residence on Thursday. As a result of the investigation, a 24-year-old male, was charged with breach of recognizance and was issued a summons for court at a later date.

City police were called to a residence regarding an intoxicated male on Friday. The individual was located and police assisted in getting the individual to their own residence. No charges were laid.
Police received a call regarding a disturbance on Friday. Members of the city police located a male and female arguing on the street. The matter was mediated and the parties left in opposite directions, and no charges were laid.
The Weyburn Police Service received a call of a fight in progress on the street on Saturday. Upon arrival, police found two males walking in opposite directions. The investigation determined a short altercation had occurred between the two males. Both individuals were warned and sent home.
Members of the Weyburn Police Service conducted a vehicle stop on Sunday and determined the passenger of the vehicle was on conditions from B.C. The accused, a 24-year-old male, was arrested. He was charged with breach of recognizance and was released for court at a later date.
The Weyburn Police Service was called regarding an intoxicated individual at a local residence on Sunday. The individual, a 20-year-old male, was turned over to family members to ensure their safety. No charges were laid.
The Weyburn Police Service received a call on Sunday regarding a male walking down the street with a dog and who was kicking and yanking at the leash. Police located the male and dog and as a result of the investigation, a 28-year-old man was charged with cruelty to animals and released for court at a later date. The dog was not injured and turned over to a responsible adult for its safety.
