Weyburn police investigate harassing social media messages

The Weyburn Police Service received a complaint regarding harassing social media messages involving a 34-year-old female victim and a 17-year-old female. The matter is still under investigation.

The Weyburn Police Service received a complaint regarding harassing social media messages involving a 34-year-old female victim and a 17-year-old female. The matter is still under investigation. The police have repeatedly advised people that hiding behind social media posts does not protect someone from possible bylaw charges for electronic bullying or from possible criminal prosecution where appropriate.
• City police received a complaint on Sunday regarding harassing messages posted on social media. The matter was investigated and determined to be unfounded.
• The Weyburn police were dispatched to a residence regarding a domestic dispute between a 50-year-old male and a 51-year-old female at about 7:15 p.m. on Jan. 2. Upon their arrival, other family members had already arrived and the male left with family members. Alcohol was a contributing factor. No other police involvement was necessary.
• City police were dispatched to a residence regarding a domestic issue at about 9:20 p.m. on Jan. 2. Upon arrival they located a 31-year-old male who was arrested for being intoxicated in public and was held in cells until sober.
• The Weyburn police received information regarding a possible drinking driver at about 5:25 p.m. on Thursday. The vehicle was located and stopped, and as a result, a 43-year-old female was arrested at the scene and has been charged with both impaired driving and driving over .08. Her driver’s licence has been suspended indefinitely pending a conclusion in court, and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
• City police responded to a domestic dispute between a 30-year-old female and a 28-year-old male at about 11 a.m. on Saturday. The matter was mediated without further need for police involvement and counselling was arranged.
• Weyburn police conducted a traffic stop at about 2:30 a.m. on Sunday. As the result of the stop, a 19-year-old male was arrested at the scene and is now facing charges of impaired driving and driving over .08. His licence has been indefinitely suspended pending an outcome in court and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
• Weyburn police conducted a traffic stop at about 1:25 a.m. on Sunday. As a result a 19-year-old male was charged with driving an unregistered vehicle (a $580 fine) and with driving while suspended, for which a court appearance is required.
