Jean Margaret Beischel

Jean Margaret Beischel (nee Dean), passed away at the Peter Lougheed Hospital on April 20, 1999 at the age of 88 years. She is the loving mother of sons, Jack (Lamoine) Hamrell of Calgary, and Grant (Ethel) Vestby of Tillsonburg, ON; grandchildren Curt (Wanetta) Hamrell and their daughter Sophia, Brent Hamrell, Todd Vestby and Cheryl (Craig) Brown and their children Derek and Jillian. Also survived by brother Fred Dean; sisters: Ann Henning, Jessie Goodwin and Helen Forsythe. Jean was predeceased by her husbands Roy Beischel, Henry Vestby and John Hamrell; brothers Gordon, Laird, Ken and Jack Dean; sister Myrtle Whittenborn and grandson Lance Hamrell. Funeral service was held at Fosters Garden Chapel Funeral Home, Calgary on Saturday, April 24 at 4:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made directly to the charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements were in care of Foster's Garden Chapel Funeral Home, Calgary.

Forever Remembered


Frank Leck

It is with great sadness that the family of Frank Leck announces the passing of their beloved husband, father and grandfather on April 7, 1999 at the age of 89 years. Predeceased by his parents Valentine and Agnes Leck; three sisters: Katie, Anna and Mary; and one brother, John. Frank is survived by his loving wife, Lucy Leck of Weyburn; his children: Diane (Dwight) McMillan of Weyburn; David (Betty) Leck of Weyburn and Susan (Duane) Steeves, of Estevan; six grandchildren: Wayde McMillan (Sue Stevenson) of Boston, MA, Tyler McMillan of Columbus, OH, Shane Steeves, of Estevan, Dustie Steeves of Calgary, AB, Darren Leck and Sarah Leck, both of Weyburn; as well as many nieces and nephews. Frank was born in Cedoux in 1909. He married Lucy Bukowski on October 9, 1939 and farmed in the Cedoux area for many years. In later life, Frank moved his family to Wyeburn. His interests and hobbies included gardening, music, crafts, but his most cherished enjoyment was spending time with his grandchildren. In 1977, when his health failed, he moved to the Souris Valley Extended Care Hospital. Prayers were said Friday, April 9 at 7:00 p.m. The funeral mass was held on Saturday, April 10 at the St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church in Weyburn with Father Francis Hengen Celebrant. Interment followed at Cedoux Community Cemetery. Nephew Ray Borys read the Psalms and grandchildren Wayde and Tyler McMillan read the eulogy. Active pallbearers were Larry Gunia, Al Wawro, Rod Finney, Johnny Knox, Curtis Borys and Dennis Mus. All in attendance were considered honorary pallbearers. For friends wishing to express their sympathy, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association. Arrangments were entrusted to Fletcher Funeral Chapels Ltd., Weyburn.


Alfred "George" Keedwell

On Thursday, April 15, 1999, Alfred "George" Keedwell, late of Weyburn, passed away at the age of 95 years. Predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Sara Keedwell; four sisters: Hellen Robinson, Ruth Barnes, Laura Armstrong and Kathleen Keedwell. George leaves to mourn his loving wife of 65 years, Mary of Weyburn; two daughters: Justine Keedwell of Weyburn and Georgia Anne (Peter) Jensen of Weyburn; four grandsons: Trevor (Debbie) Jensen and their children: Brayden and Mikyla; Peter Jr. (Joanne) Jensen and their children: Colton, Kaylyn and Kelsey; Trent (Tina) Jensen and their children: Tanner, Codi and Christopher (Twyla Peterson) Jensen, as well as several nieces and nephews. Alfred was born January 20, 1904 in Virden, MB. He started school in Virden, then Wolseley and Saskatoon. He learned the meat cutting trade from his dad and then went to Brandon where he became a meat cutter. In 1929 he started with Safeways in Regina. In 1941 he took over his dad's meat shop in Grenfell, SK. He married Mary Biffle on June 28, 1934 in Regina. They had two daughters, Justine and Georgia. Alfred loved fishing. Their cottage is at Crooked Lake and he loved to spend the summer there with his 'boys.' He was a councilman at Grenfell, a 50 years member and had a life membership with the Masons-Grenfell, a member of the Eastern Star at Grenfell and Weyburn, and on the Board of Stuards for the United Church in Grenfell. In 1994 Alfred and Mary celebrated 60 years of marriage and this June would have been married for 65 years. They lived in Regina from 1934 to 1941, Grenfell from 1941 to 1986 and then Weyburn since 1986. A memorial service was held Tuesday, April 20 at 1:00 p.m. from Fletcher Funeral Chapel, Weyburn with Bill Corkum officiating minister. Interment will be at a later date. All his grandsons were honorary pallbearers. Those wishing to express their sympathy may donate to a charity of the donor's choice, in his memory. Arrangements were in care of Hastings-Dionne Funeral Home Inc., Weyburn.


John William Hille

On Saturday, April 17, 1999 John William Hille, late of Weyburn passed away suddenly at the age of 67 years. John is survived by sons: David (Fran) Hille and Robert (Caroline) Hille; daughter Karen Torgunrud (Mark Weisgerber); grandchildren: Jeremy, Caitlin, Erika and Quinn; his former wife, Mary Lou Hille; and one sister, Jean (Julian) Leipy of Weyburn. At John's request, there will be no service. Memorials may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association. Arrangments were entrusted to Fletcher Funeral Chapels Ltd., Weyburn.
