After selling the cattle from the dairy, Grace decided to take
a part-time job at the Weyburn Union Hospital. Grace was indeed
a caregiver as she worked at the Weyburn Special Care Home from

In tears we saw you sinking
We watched you fade away,
You suffered much in silence,
You fought so hard to stay.
You faced your task with courage,
And still you kept on fighting,
Until the very end.
God saw you getting tired,
That a cure was not to be,
So He put His arms around you
And whispered, "Come with Me."
So when we saw you sleeping,
So peaceful, free from pain,
We could not wish you back,
To suffer that again.
Dear Jesus, grant her heavenly rest.

- Irvin Theodore Daae
On Thursday, November 11, 1999, Irvin Daae, late of Red Deer,
AB, passed away peacefully at his residence, Pine Lodge, at the
age of 72 years. A funeral service was held at the Lutheran Church
of Good Shepherd on Nov. 15, 1999 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor R.
Mayan officiating. A memorial service was held Wednesday, November
17 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Torquay, SK, with Pastor P. Roellchen-Pfohl
officiating. Irvin, the first child of Ingvald and Thea Daae,
was born at Bromhead on March 10, 1927. He was baptized and confirmed
at Torquay Lutheran Church. Irvin grew up on the farm three miles
west of Torquay. He attended a country school known as Hayland
School. He treasured the memories of attending this school and
it was a highlight in his life when he attended the two Hayland
School Reunions. Upon completing his grade 9 he helped his father
on the farm. He enjoyed working with the threshing crew and had
many special memories of his threshing days. In 1949 he moved
to a farm three miles east of Bromhead where he farmed six quarters
of land until 1961. He sold the farm and moved to Edmonton, AB,
being employed with The Tube and Pipe Company. Irvin also worked
for The Canadian Telegraph Line in the N.W.T. In 1965 he moved
to Calgary, AB and it was at this time he developed a heart condition,
spending one month in Foothills Hospital. In 1970, Irvin moved
to Prince George, BC and was employed at the British Columbia
Locomotive Shop. Irvin bought an acreage where he could experience
and enjoy the country life he loved so much. Irvin married Margaret
Butler on May 12, 1976. Margaret had a family and this family
became Irvin's family. Because of Margaret's serious heart condition
they sold their property and moved to Calgary in 1986. They moved
to Red Deer in 1990. Irvin had an outstanding memory and would
relate many memories to his family. If one couldn't remember
any details about an event, Irvin could always be counted on
to fill in the details. Irvin was predeceased by his loving wife
and soul mate, Margaret, in May 1998; his parents, Ingvald and
Thea Daae, and his sister, Evelyn Ryan. He leaves to mourn his
blended family, his sister/cousin, Dr. Beatrice Ashem, Toronto,
ON; three brothers, Lawrence (Lilah), Raymond (Verna), both of
Torquay, and Donald (Evelyn), Calgary; and brother-in-law Arlin
Ryan, Midale; as well as many nieces and nephews. Interment followed
in Torquay cemetery. Pallbearers in Red Deer were his stepsons,
Bob Crush, Ray, Paul, Larry, Brian and Ted Butler. Pallbearers

made to the Gideon Organization and to charities that individuals
requested.

always be a part of us. A celebration of Don's life was held

- Edna I. Lindskog
On Wednesday, December 8, 1999, Edna I. Lindskog, late of Radville,
passed away at Radville Marian Health Centre, at the age of 79
years. Predeceased by her parents: Lars and Sophie Lindskog,
and by her twin sister, Ellen Frederick. Edna is survived by
her two brothers: Sidney (Dorothy) Lindskog of Weyburn; and Gordon
(Phyllis) Lindskog of Weyburn; brother-in-law Bill Frederick
of Weyburn; nieces and nephews: Terry Frederick, Rodger Frederick,
Stanley Lindskog, Steven Linkdkog, Verna Mitura, Rodney Lindskog,
Randy Lindskog, Lori Olheiser, Kevin Lindskog, Kelly Lindskog
and Leanne Verbeem; as well as great nieces and nephews. Edna
was born, along with her twin sister, Ellen, on December 17,
1919 at the homestead southwest of Neptune. They were the eldest
of four children born to Ivor and Sophie Lindskog. At three years
of age, Edna contracted polio. She did survive and an operation
on her legs done in Winnipeg enabled her to walk again. This
allowed her to care for the calves, chicks, piglets and especially
the kittens on the family farm. She did her share of the housework,
and enjoyed the rides by horse and sleigh and playing cards.
She also took care of her nieces and nephews, as a great joy
was to have babies around her. In 1965 her father passed away
and Edna moved with her caregiver, Mary Dalrymple, to a cottage
at Pioneer Place in Weyburn. In April of 1972, she moved into
the Marian Home, now the Radville Marian Health Centre. Her siblings
would take her out for various occasions, so they were able to
spend time with her, a joy for her to be in their homes. She
loved to open the presents at the Christmas celebrations. Edna's
presence was felt at the Marian Centre, as she made crafts, pillows,
rugs, etc. When one visited her, she would be a good salesperson
offering to sell a rug, or even a raffle ticket or three. And
of course, there was bingo, hoping to win so she could spend
the money. Most contagious was Edna's smile and laugh. It was
difficult to visit her and not come away with a big smile and
a joyful feeling. The residents, staff and volunteers were a
large part of Edna's life. She attended many special suppers,
parties and outings to the Seniors Centre for pie and coffee
or to Hannigan's for ice cream. Edna was caring and loving, but
also very honest, as she spoke her mind, clearly letting you
know how she felt. She may not have had any formal education,
but her learning was impressive. Because of her exceptional memory,
she could list events, past and present, recalling details that
others may have forgotten. Family was still important to Edna,
attending a wedding, a baptism, and just this year, her brother's
50th wedding anniversary. We thank God for blessing us with Edna.
Funeral service was held Monday, December 13 at 2:00 p.m. from
Fletcher Funeral Chapel, Weyburn, with Pastor Martin Olson officiating.
Interment followed in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Maxim. All
those in attendance were considered to be honorary pallbearers.
The active pallbearers were: Rodney, Stanley, Steven and Randy
Lindskog, Troy and Jason Frederick. For friends so wishing, donations
may be made to the Radville Marian Health Centre, Radville, in
her memory. Arrangements were entrusted to Fletcher Funeral Chapels
Ltd., Weyburn.
