Bayerle
On Tuesday, March 7, 2000, Mena Bayerle, late of Weyburn, passed away at the Weyburn General Hospital at the age of 72 years. Predeceased by her parents, Herman and Huldine Deimert, one brother, Edmond Deimert, and two infant brothers. Mena will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Stephen Bayerle of Weyburn and their son, Roger Bayerle of Regina; four brothers: Ralph (Irene) Deimert of Delia, AB; Louie (Ann) Deimert of Vulcan, AB; Ervin (Norma) Deimert of Saskatoon; and Eric (Lenore) Deimert of Vulcan, AB; seven sisters: Johanna (Emil) Buss of Lang; Elma Buss of Medicine Hat, AB; Dena Hill of Regina; Helanda Hartung of Vulcan, AB; Lorraine (Clarence) Volkman of New Serepta, AB; Eileen (Malcolm) Mackinnon of Medicine Hat, AB; and Doreen (Al) Widmer of Medicine Hat, AB; two sisters-in-law: Margaret Selby of Regina, and Marian Cherenkoff of Brandon, MB; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Wilhelmena Augustina Bayerle was born August 9, 1927 in Weyburn. She grew up in Weyburn as part of the Herman and Huldine Deimert family, complete with 11 brothers and sisters. She attended Souris School. On August 15, 1951, Mena married Stephen Bayerle in Weyburn, and she has resided in Weyburn all her life. During the 50's and 60's she served as a receptionist/secretary at two Weyburn medical clinics. She then worked as office manager and sales person for Pleckham Agencies for 27 years. Mena kept busy taking care of her family, husband Stephen and son, Roger, and helping friends and relatives. She enjoyed reading crossword puzzles, and brought good cheer and love to all in her life. She attended Evangelical and Catholic Church in Weyburn. Mena and Stephen celebrated their 40th and 49th anniversary and she enjoyed the trip to Hawaii she took with her husband and family. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by all she knew and loved. Prayers were said Sunday, March 12, at 7:00 p.m. from St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weyburn. Funeral mass was held Monday, March 13, at 10:00 a.m. from St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church with Father Francis Hengen and Pastor Keith Taylor officiating. Interment followed in Green Acres Memorial Gardens, Weyburn. The active pallbearers were nephews: David Bayerle, Donald Bayerle, Wayne Buss, Brent Christopherson, Brian Hill and Keith Hill. For friends so wishing, donations may be made in her memory to the St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church Stained Glass Window Fund or to Weyburn Pro-Life. Memorial service for Blanche Evans, 95 years, was held Thursday, March 9, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. from Grace United Church, Weyburn, with Rev. Bill Corkum and Rev. Rob Ogilvie officiating. Interment followed in Hillcrest Cemetery, Weyburn. Blanche was predeceased by her husband, Clifford Evans in 1989; her parents, Margaret and William Hollinger; three sisters Audrey West, Retta Fox and Beryl Nicholls and one brother, Russell Hollinger. She leaves to mourn two sons: Norman (Jean) Evans of Weyburn, and Gordon (Lois) Evans of Weyburn; and one daughter Norma (Alec) Charlton of Kenosee Lake. She is survived by nine grandchildren: Joan (Garry) Kruger, Regina; Garth (Marilyn) Charlton, Weyburn; Mary-Lynn (Dave) Thornton, Regina; Sandra (Tracy) Ogden, Fillmore; Gail (Allan) Donald, Moose Jaw; Janice Evans, Bathwell, ON; Gerry (Lenore) Evans, Weyburn; Ken Evans, Weyburn; and Cathy (Terry) Hopper, Weyburn. She also leaves 15 great grandchildren: Clayton Hopper, Erin and Judd Kruger, Jeromy (Arden) and Jamie Charlton, Kate and Halle Thornton, Reanne, Leah and Amanda Ogden, Jessie, Melissa and Garrett Donald, Lisa Zentner, and Carley Evans; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Blanche was born in the Weyburn area in 1905. She attended Wheat Centre School and Weyburn Collegiate. In1927 she married Clifford and they lived in the Talmage and Weyburn area for over 50 years. They moved to the city of Weyburn in 1979. They celebrated over 60 years of marriage. Blanche was interested in gardening and creative hobbies, and was involved with church and Sunday School, U.C.W. and Women's Institute. She worked for the Red Cross during war years and was very interested in the life of the farm and 4-H. Family and friends helped her celebrate her 95th birthday on February 27, 2000. Her grandchildren called her 'Nanny' and were the joy of her life. She resided in Pioneer Place and Weyburn Special Care Home for a number of years until the time of her passing. All the grandchildren were honorary pallbearers. Those wishing to express their sympathy may do so by donating to the Weyburn Special Care Home or to Grace United Church Building Fund or to a charity of choice. On Tuesday, March 7, 2000, Effie Levina Ulledal, late of Midale, passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital in Estevan, at the age of 87 years. Predeceased by her parents, Carl and Josephine Operude; her husband, Edward Ulledal and ten brothers and sisters. Effie is survived by her two sons: Don Ulledal of Midale, and Craig (Betty) Ulledal of Arizona, USA; seven granchildren and 13 great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Effie was born March 3, 1913 at Stady, North Dakota, USA. She attended Lincoln Valley and then Ambrose school. She married Edward Ulledal at Estevan in 1932 and then moved to Canada in 1933. They traveled north to the Meadow Lake district and then moved to the farm in 1945 at Torquay where they farmed for several years. Effie moved to Weyburn in the 1950's and worked at the Saskatchewan Hospital. She retired in 1978 and continued to make her home in Weyburn and then later in Midale. Funeral service was held Monday, March 13 at 1:00 p.m. from Fletcher Funeral Chapel, Weyburn, with Pastor Ron Bestvater officiating. Interment followed in Ambrose Cemetery, Ambrose, North Dakota. For friends so wishing, donations may be made in her memory to the Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements were entrusted to Fletcher Funeral Chapels Ltd., Weyburn.
Clara Dawson, late of Regina, passed away on March 9, 2000 at the age of 84. Clara was predeceased by her parents Tom and Catherine Dawson, her infant twin sister, a sister Ella May and brother Thomas. Clara is survived by her sister-in-law, Aileen Dawson, niece and nephews: Larry and children, Laura and Megan; Catherine (Greg Nesbitt) and children Mathew, Sarah, Daniel and Riley; Paul (Marie Bouchard) and children Dillon and Isiah; and Thomas (Angela) and son Nolan, as well as many cousins. Clara was born on February 7, 1916 on the family farm near Pitman, SK. She remained on the farm with her parents, farming and raising turkeys until she moved to Weyburn in 1979. While in Weyburn she provided child care to many families. She was an active member of St. Patrick's R.C. Church in Rouleau and St. Vincent de Paul R.C. Church in Weyburn, including the CWL and the Altar Society. In 1995 Clara moved to Regina. In recent years she resided at Wascana Rehabilita-tion Centre in Regina. Cremation has been arranged. The funeral mass was held Tuesday, March 14, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Peter's R.C. Church, Regina, with Rev. Ken Koep, celebrant. Prayers were held Monday, March 13 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Lee Funeral Home, Regina. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sask. On Thursday, March 2, 2000, Phillip Robert Schmidt, late of Weyburn, passed away at the age of 77 years. He was born in the Weyburn area on January 6, 1923. He received his education at Tagg country school. He was predeceased by his mother and father, John and Margaret Schmidt; one sister, Rose Vogel; four brothers: John G., Joe, Frank and Stephen Schmidt; sisters-in-law: Helen Schmidt and Reine Ortman; and brothers-in-law Joe Schmidt and David Propp. Phillip is survived by his five sisters: Anne (Charles) Meek; Betty Propp; Margaret (Steve) Lazurko; Marion Zerie and Rose (Frank) Loos, all of Weyburn; as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins. Phillip lived on a farm in the McTaggart area where he helped with grain and mixed farming. Phillip also worked on a mixed farm for William (Bill) Boren in the Yellow Grass district. When his father became ill and had to slow down, Phillip came home to help on the family farm. Stephen and Phillip decided to go into the dairy business. He loved to work with animals and ride on the tractor to work the land. Phillip also enjoyed some travel time - he went on a tour of Europe and two bus tours of the U.S. In the late 50's and early 60's Phillip became ill with rheumatoid arthritis. He spent many months in hospital in Saskatoon, the Plains Hospital, and nine months in Wascana Hospital. In 1981 Phillip retired and moved to the City of Weyburn where he lived with his brother Stephen and mother. In 1992 Phillip had to give up his home due to his illness. His new home was at Crocus Plains Villa where he resided until his death. Phillip was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Prayers were said Sunday, March 5, at 7:30 p.m. from St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weyburn. The funeral mass was held Monday, March 6 at 10:30 a.m. from St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, with Father Francis Hengen Celebrant. Interment followed in Hillcrest Cemetery, Weyburn. Honorary pallbearers were: Norbert Schultz, Stephen Bayerle, Wilfred Schiller, Don Vogel, Joe Rubin and Joe Honig. The Knights of Columbus formed an Honor Guard. For friends so wishing, donations may be made in his memory to the St. Vincent de Paul Memorial Fund or to the Arthritis Society. Arrangements were entrusted to Fletcher Funeral Chapels Ltd., Weyburn.
