How does one weep for the loss of a child
And shed the tears from within.
When does the ache from your broken heart end
When does the healing begin.
What stops the hurt of your empty arms
That beg to embrace her once more.
Your ears long to hear the refrain of her voice
Your eyes the sights of before.
Your life has been changed in the blink of an eye
And shall never be quite the same.
For a void now exists that can never be filled
'Cept with memories that hold her sweet name.
Hold fast to those memories - so scattered so few
Draw strength from the love you receive.
Reach out to those now who mourn with you
Whose faith helps you still to believe.
And when peace again dwells in your heart
The sun will shine brighter each day.
And when next the rose bud doth open wide
She'll be sending her love back your way.
