Robert Rody

On Monday, September 25, 2000, Robert Rody, late of Weyburn, passed away at home at the age of 78 years. Predeceased by his father and mother, Robert and Julia Rody; one brother, Henry Rody; and one daughter, Janet Klein on May 28, 2000. Robert will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 52 years, Audrey Rody of Weyburn; one son, Allan (Diane) Rody of Ingersoll, ON; three daughters: Betty (Roy) Bavle of Weyburn, Lynda (Ted) Johnson of Moose Jaw, and Deby Lester (Scott Wood) of Calgary, AB; one son-in-law Terry Klein of Weyburn; 12 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two brothers: Martin (Gwen) Rody of Dryden, ON and Fred (Pauline) Rody of Regina; four sisters: Ella Lancaster of Campbell River, BC, Olga Smith of Regina, Anne Bunn of Kitimat, BC, and Lydia Wallin of Weyburn; as well as several nieces and nephews. Robert Rody was born June 21, 1922 at Lang. He worked on the family farm at a very early age. On June 21, 1948 Robert married Audrey Young at Radville United Church. They lived at McTaggart from 1954 to 1971 before moving to Weyburn in 1971. Robert was very involved with the Wheatland Senior Centre and helping the elderly in the community. He and Margaret celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1998 with family and friends. Funeral service was held Friday, September 29 at 1:00 p.m. from Knox Presbyterian Church, Weyburn, with Marilyn Anderson Corkum officiating minister. Interment followed in Green Acres Memorial Gardens, Weyburn. Active pallbearers were his grandsons: Cory Bavle, Jason Rody, Daniel Rody, Paul Klein, Robbie Johnson and Wade Lester. For friends so wishing, donations may be made in his memory to the Wheatland Senior Centre, Weyburn. Arrangements were entrusted to Fletcher Funeral Chapels Ltd., Weyburn.


Rita Frances Erickson

On Thursday, September 28, 2000, Rita Frances Erickson, late of the Radville Marian Health Centre, passed away at the Regina Pasqua Hospital at the age of 80 years. Rita was born August 17, 1920 at Wrekington, England. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Isabella Dobeson, her husband, Clarence Erickson; one sister in infancy, and three great grandchildren. Rita is survived by her children: three sons: Doug (his companion Bernice) Erickson of Radville; Robert (Elsie) Erickson of Weyburn; and Brian (Karen) Erickson of Portage La Prairie, MB; two daughters: Dianna (Albert) Addison of Brandon, MB; and Elizabeth (David) Hein of Drumheller, AB; 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Funeral service was held Monday, October 2, at 10:00 a.m. from All Saints Anglican Church, Weyburn, with Rev. Julie Collings officiating. Interment followed in Green Acres Memorial Gardens, Weyburn. All those in attendance were considered to be honorary pallbearers. The active pallbearers were: Mark Holden, Albert Addison Jr., David Addison, Shaen Hein, Alan Erickson and Duane Jungwirth. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Radville Marian Health Centre, Radville. Arrangements were in care of Hastings-Dionne Funeral Home Inc., Weyburn.


Metro Oystreck

On Wednesday, September 27, 2000, Metro Oystreck, late of Weyburn, passed away at Souris Valley Extended Care Centre, at the age of 69 years. Metro was born October 9, 1930 at Rhein, SK. Predeceased by his parents, Tom and Martha Oystreck, and one sister, Mary Allin. Metro is survived by his brothers and sisters: Effie Oystreck of Grayson, SK; Ed (Helen) Oystreck of Melville; Lorraine Rudinsky of Vernon, BC; Mike (Diane) Oystreck of Rhein, and Janice (Lorne) Krochak of Regina; as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held Saturday, September 30 at 10:00 a.m. from the Assembly Hall at Souris Valley Extended Care Centre with Father Francis Hengen officiating. Interment followed in Hillcrest Cemetery, Weyburn. All those in attendance were considered to be honorary pallbearers. Arrange-ments were entrusted to Fletcher Funeral Chapels Ltd., Weyburn.


Clarence Rice Schwindt

On Monday, September 25, 2000, Clarence Rice Schwindt, late of the Lewvan-Colfax district, passed away peacefully at Souris Valley Extended Care with his family by his side at the age of 88 years. Clarence was born January 5, 1912 at the family farm south of Lewvan. Predeceased by his father and mother, Charles and Rosa Schwindt, seven brothers and four sisters. Clarence is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Mary Berniece Schwindt of Weyburn; two sons: Stewart (Therese) of Sedley, and Clinton (Rhonda) of Colfax; and one daughter Marilyn Parker of Madison, New Jersey, USA; three grandsons: James, Jay and Shane; two granddaughters Connie and Chelsea; as well as many nieces and nephews and friends. Clarence enjoyed a career of farming until 1989 when his eyesight failed him and forced his retirement. Clarence especially enjoyed years of family card games, curling and was an avid sports fan. Clarence especially enjoyed frequent visits and phone calls from family and friends. Funeral service was held Thursday, September 28 at 2:00 p.m. from Zion Lutheran Church, Weyburn, with Marilyn Anderson Corkum officiating minister. Interment followed in Colfax Community Cemetery, Colfax. All those in attendance were considered to be honorary pallbearers. The active pallbearers were James Schwindt, Jay Schwindt, Ed Bartlett, Jim Gibbons, Johnny O'Byrne and Ian Budding. At the family's request, flowers are gratefully declined, for friends so wishing donations may be made in his memory to the C.N.I.B. Arrangements were entrusted to Fletcher Funeral Chapels Ltd., Weyburn.


Evelyn Jane Pindus

On Thursday, September 21, 2000, Evelyn Jane Pindus, late of Weyburn, passed away suddenly at the Regina General Hospital, at the age of 58 years. Evelyn was born July 9, 1942 at Theodore, SK. Predeceased by her parents, John and Sophie Polowick and her father-in-law, Alex Pindus. Evelyn is survived by her loving husband, Don Pindus of Weyburn; one son, Darcy (Shannon) Pindus of Weyburn; two sisters Phyllis (Lawrence) Murphy of Victoria, BC and Alice (Peter) Fitzpatrick of Moose Jaw; two brothers Wendel (Emily) Polowick of Winnipeg, MB, and Leslie (Ina) Polowick of Melfort; mother-in-law, Helen Pindus of Yorkton; sisters-in-law Marlene (Edward) Bennett of Parry Sound, ON and Inis (Art) Kolke of Queensville, ON; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held Tuesday, September 26 at 2:00 p.m. from Knox Presbyterian Church, Weyburn, with Rev. John Ferrier officiating. Interment followed in Hillcrest Cemetery, Weyburn. Pallbearers were Dwight McMillan, Jim Stovin, Magnus Lundgren, Larry Rogers, Grant Marinos and Ernest Hanchar. For friends so wishing, donations may be made in Evelyn's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Sask. Arrangements were in care of Hastings-Dionne Funeral Home Inc., Weyburn.
