OBITUARIES

On Monday, October 30, 2000, Marcella Theresa Payak (Mallinger), late of Weyburn, passed away at Souris Valley Regional Care Centre, at the age of 83 years. Predeceased by her husband, William in December 1987, and her parents, Jacob and Annie Mallinger a number of years ago, they had lived to be in their eighties. Also predeceased by brothers and sisters: Severn, Luke, George, Blanche, Vernice, Beatrice, Cecelia and Lillian. Marcella will be lovingly remembered by two daughters: Rosemarie (Bill) Doherty of Calgary; and Elaine (Bruce) Croal of Weyburn; grandchildren: Danetta Steba-nuk (Bruce Henry) of Edmonton; Rocky Stebanuk of BC, Kent and Kory Doherty of Calgary; Curtis (Rhonda) Croal of Weyburn; and Carla (Mike) Fellner of Weyburn; great grandchildren: Riordan, Justin and Corinne Henry, Daniel and Jacey Fellner, and Riley Croal; one sister, Ruth Fuchs of Weyburn; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Marcella was born June 1, 1917 at Halbrite, then moved with her family to Tribune in July of 1923. In the spring of 1937 the family again moved to Maple School district. On February 3, 1944, Marcella married William Payak. They resided on the farm in the Weyburn Plains district until retiring in 1969. Funeral service was held Friday, November 3 at 10:30 a.m. from Fletcher Funeral Chapel, Weyburn, with Father Francis Hengen officiating. Interment followed in Green Acres Memorial Gardens, Weyburn. All those in attendance were considered to be honorary pallbearers. The active pallbearers were Don Payak, Chris Payak, Kent Doherty, Kory Doherty, Curtis Croal and Mike Fellner. For friends so wishing, donations may be made in her memory to a charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements were entrusted to Fletcher Funeral Chapels Ltd., Weyburn.
