Richard
Melvin Dunbar
On Friday, November 10, 2000, Rick Dunbar was tragically taken from this world, at the age of 31, near Swift Current. He was predeceased by his only sister Louann Hennings; grandparents Melvin Hutton, Richard (Dick) Dunbar, Pearl Dunbar, and cousin Corey Joe Hutton. He is survived by his loving parents Jim and Lynda Dunbar and his only brother Clayton James (C.J.), his brother-in-law Vern Hennings, grandmother Ruby Hutton, uncles Ross and (Jan) Dunbar, Murdith (Carole) Hutton, Lane (Laurel) Hutton, Clint (Dianne) Hutton, aunt Tammy (Dennis) Gervais; cousins Darryl (Debbie), Dyan (Derek), Chad, Chet, Leah, Joel, Christopher, Katie, Jacob, Andrew, Liza, Sarah, Amy, Jill and Lana; and second cousin Avery. Rick was born November 13, 1968 in Estevan. He grew up on the family farm near North Portal. He attended school in North Portal, Bienfait, and Estevan. With many academic awards he finished high school and went to the University of Saskatoon to obtain his Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture, with a major in crop science. His first job was at the Shand Greenhouse. Rick loved nature and especially horticulture. He then went east to New Brunswick for a few years, working at Circle Square Ranch, a ski resort, and as always helping others. He had spent the last two and a half years working at the Agriculture Canada research station in Swift Current. Rick was involved in church college and career groups in Saskatoon and Swift Current. Wherever Rick went he made many friends; whether he was skiing, snow boarding, canoeing, fishing, enjoying music or exploring nature, he was usually with family or friends. Rick's life was cut short, but in the few years he was on this earth, he lived life to the fullest. He always took time for others, especially those in need. He loved his family, and missed his sister dearly. Most of all Rick loved God, and walked with Him daily. He is now dancing with the angels in heaven. A celebration of Rick's life was held on Friday, November 17 from the Church of God in Estevan with Pastor Walter Engel and Pastor Sid Chalmers officiating. Rick's favorite music was played, his family and friends shared stories of his life, and we all gained strength from his strong faith in God. If friends so desire, donations may be given to Salvation Army, World Vision Child Sponsor, Circle Square Ranch, Gideons Bibles or charity of your choice. Arrangements in care of Orsted Funeral Home, Estevan.

Annie Jean Bahnuick
On Sunday, November 19, 2000, Annie Jean Bahnuick, late of Weyburn, passed away at Souris Valley Regional Care Centre, at the age of 70 years. Predeceased by her parents, Paul and Ida Novenski; her husband, Fredrick on July 9, 2000; one sister, Mary Vilcu; three brothers: Harry, Joe and Paul Novenski. Annie is survived by her four sons: Bill (Vicki Wright) Bahnuick of Regina; Don (Anita) Bahnuick of Weyburn; Garry (Betty) Bahnuick of Wawota and Ken Bahnuick of Stoughton; three grandchildren: Courtney McFadden, Tina Soloway (special guest, Wilfred Gall and family) and Sherry (Scott) Maas; two great grandchildren: Devin McFadden and April Soloway; two sisters: Margaret Novenski of Belleville, ON; and Dorothy (Joe) Tokarz of Weyburn; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Anne was born March 2, 1930 at Steelman. She received her education at Griffin. Fred and Anne were married on October 21, 1948 at Benson. After their marriage they resided in the Griffin area. For a number of years Anne and Fred lived on the farm west of Griffin. Later in years they moved to town, where Anne and Fred owned and operated the Gulf service station along Highway 13. During the day Anne was the main operator, and she was also the bookkeeper for the business. Anne was also a reporter for the Weyburn Review, gathering all the news of current events and family visiting the area. This she truly enjoyed as it kept her in touch with friends. She was involved in the church, being a big part of the CWL for many years. Anne was not an extravagant person. The most important things in life were her family, church and friends, all of which she always had time for. You always knew that any family gatherings, Easter, Thanksgiv-ing and Christmas were at her house. She enjoyed preparing small feasts for her family. Everyone was welcomed at the house. Friends could come over anytime and they always knew that there would be coffee or tea. They enjoyed playing a game of cards, with friends and family. Anne had a couple of hobbies. She enjoyed crocheting as she would make doilies and afghans. But her true love was making quilts. These she would make for family or friends. Each and every quilt was handmade with love and warmth. Ann was very proud of every member of her family. She truly enjoyed her visits with her granddaughters and great grandchildren. Anne and Fred were able to celebrate their 50th anniversary in October of 1998 in Griffin. Anne was a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and a dear friend. She will be sadly missed. Prayers were said Tuesday, November 21 at 7:00 p.m. from St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weyburn. The funeral mass was held Wednesday, November 22 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church with Father Francis Hengen celebrant. Interment followed in Griffin Cemetery. All those in attendance were considered to be honorary pallbearers. The active pallbearers were: Joe Vilcu, Mark Vilcu, Blain Tokarz, Glen Walkeden, Ron Babiarz and Jim Salisbury. In lieu of flowers, for friends so wishing, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Diabetes Association, in her memory. Arrangements were entrusted to Fletcher Funeral Chapels Ltd., Weyburn.
